Beneath the arbor they will say their “I do’s”. Then the winds of time will blow..

There will be times of joy and sorrows, of beginnings and endings, of birth and of death. Life spinning past with the constant changing of seasons practically unnoticed. Suddenly their nest will be empty again. All that remains is He and She and forty years of memories.

They will find themselves beneath the arbor again as their child promises a lifetime of seasons to the one he loves, a breeze softly stirring the fallen petals.

beneath the arbor

promises made and received

’til death they shall part

Excellent Pat, you capture the essence of the arbor so well in your haibun. I enjoyed this very much. Well done.

Arbors have a way of making us think weddings. 🙂

The two baskets of flowers at the beginning of the archway made me think of weddings, too. How you swirl a whole generation of images in one magical turning of your cloak. It’s like a magic trick to talk about so much in so few words. Well done! 🙂 Brenda
