Ligo Haibun Challenge: 08/11-14/11

I wonder at what age I began to allow people to make me to disbelieve. All the wonderful stories told to me in my early years were eventually ridiculed or forgotten. The wonderful imagination of childhood all to soon became the cynicism of adults. There are so many “professionals” today who insist upon absolute truth when raising children. No dragons or unicorns, no santa or faeries. But they are wrong..

I have seen faeries, they were cast under an evil spell and only the breath of a child on a warm summer day can release them. This is a legend from my Grandfather that I will teach  Astrid and Finnigan because it is the truth. Grandfather would never lie.

As always Patricia. I love your words. You are not just a “word weaver” but have the unique ability to get the the “heart” of the matter (the essence) the “haiku” within the haibun. Beautiful and well written. Thank you,
    Penny 🙂

A journey from and to childhood. Lovely haibun. Such well-chosen names too. Such a nice touch to think of, he would never lie,…. grandfather
