Minding Your Beeswax

31 Jul

Philbert has a secret. His honey is famous throughout Quebec and in fact thanks to E-Bay his honey will be in world-wide demand. Because of his special bee there will never be a shortage of supply.

It’s honey is the color of gold and the sweetest nectar you have ever tasted, and highly addictive. Suffice to say, the apiarist community is curious and yes, very jealous.

What’s your secret?”

my recipe for bee food which I will not share.”

Early one morning Philbert sees a man sneaking into his apiary. He recognises him as one of the competition. Sighing he takes another sip of honey tea.

The bee will be well fed this morning..

Finders Keepers

28 Jul

The salvaging job has proven long and arduous. What should have been the quick retrieval of cargo from a ship which sank in the icy waters just off of the port of Montreal on a cold February afternoon, is now into its twenty-seventh day.

The discovery of five bullet riddled bodies and several kilos of cocaine on day one was certainly a bad omen.

The boss had wanted him to leave the thugs and drugs beneath the murky water unreported, but his civic duty prevailed.

Now they were stuck with a tugboat full of customs and R.C.M.P. agents combing through every bit of debris as it exited the river.

Thank God they had made the wads of cash “disappear” before they were called in.

Finders keepers..

The Bride’s Secret

His brown eyes sought hers of blue. She smiled at him as he lifted the white gauzy veil.

Lowering his mouth to her sultry red lips he discovered her forked tongue. Too late..

Special Delivery

Victor could hardly believe he was going to make this delivery. There had been fierce competition among his fellow storks but he had simply stood by and watched the ruckus. He knew in his heart that a gentle bird would be chosen, and he was correct.

On the assigned day he was very nervous, running to the bathroom every half-hour to wash his face in cold water. The dispatcher scolded him and ordered him to “get with it” or the child would arrive late.

Flying gently through the billowy clouds his only thought was that he must not drop the bundle. Prince George sure was heavy.

Undercover Reporter

22 Jul

Image

The sound of my high-heels echo off the walls grinding my already frayed nerves. Why the hell had I not thought to wear running shoes? When it came to this undercover stuff I was an obvious amateur. I hate the tube and claustrophobia was quickly taking its toll. Who’s stupid idea was it to meet here anyway?

The man had called the editor’s office this morning and offered the pictures in exchange for an obscene sum of money . The boss bit like a hungry wolf so here I am. Just my damned luck that I was the first reporter to arrive in the office today.

I just want the dude to show up soon so we can make the trade. Look for a man in tweed with a bowler hat I was told, as if that would be somehow inconspicuous.

I can hear the train approaching as its headlight pierces the darkness. Finally..

Let’s just get this over so I can get out of here and the British Daily Rag can publish the first exclusive pictures of the invisible man.

Seeking Freedom

21 Jul

1645226

When I was young I would sometimes lie on my back in bed, pull the sheet up over my head, and pretend I was dead.

From the safety of my “coffin” I could close my eyes and imagine myself rising above the clouds, my worries falling away below me like raindrops as I drifted up to Heaven.

For a short time I was free from the constant bombardment of physical and emotional abuse.

Back then, I was not afraid to die, I was afraid of living.

Twisting the diamond ring off her finger, she lobbed it into the teeming water below. Donald wanted it back so he could marry that skank who danced on a smokey stage.

Carpe Diem #249, compassion

Image

The train roared into the town of Lac Megantic ( estimates are that it was moving at 100+ kmh ) in the early morning of July 6 2013, killing 50 people and destroying a large part of the downtown core in the ensuing derailment and explosions.

The president of the railway company showed no compassion toward these townspeople who lost family and friends. Many lost businesses and homes.

Shame on MMA..double shame on Mr Edward Burkhardt who’s half- hearted attempt at an apology occurred a full fifteen minutes into his speech.

town left in ruins

president’s only compassion

is a cold shoulder
