The Riches in Life

16 Aug

The homecoming queen

was not going to settle

for the little farm house

and the boy next door

her sights were set higher

for a luxurious life

full of diamonds and purls

and a big house on the hill

so God granted her wish

now she has her reward

in her palace of ice

where there is no love

and her nights spent alone

while I in my blue jeans

on the front porch swing

in the arms of my farmer

and a house full of babies

am richer than she imagined

for I knew in my heart

that the treasures in life

are not kept in a bank

they are carried within

deep inside of your soul
